EPDM rubber roofing in Burgess Hill for flat roofs on extensions, garages and dormers. One flexible rubber sheet, laid cold with no naked flame, and a free quote before we start.
EPDM is a synthetic rubber made into large, flexible sheets. On most domestic flat roofs a single sheet covers the whole area, so there are no joins for water to find. It stays flexible in frost and heat, which helps it cope with the British weather.
EPDM is bonded to the roof deck with adhesive, not heat. With no torch on site, there's no fire risk to timber, fascias or the house next door. That makes it a good choice for roofs close to windows, timber cladding or neighbouring properties.
It suits garage roofs, single-storey extensions, dormers, porches and bay roofs. It works best on roofs that aren't walked on often. For a balcony or a roof with regular foot traffic, a harder surface such as fibreglass may be the better option, and we'll tell you if so.
We measure the roof, check the deck and look at how it drains, then give you a free quote. If the old roof covering is still on, we strip it and replace any decking that's soft or rotten, since the rubber needs a clean, smooth, dry surface to bond to.
The rubber sheet is rolled out, bonded to the deck and trimmed. Edges are finished with trims, and upstands against walls are sealed so water can't run behind them. Outlets and corners get extra detailing. Most small and medium EPDM roofs are finished in a day or two.
Tell us about the leak, the damage or the job you have in mind. We aim to respond the same day.
We look at the roof, explain what we find and give you a free, no-obligation quote before any work starts.
We carry out the repair or installation, then test and check the finished work before we leave.
A properly fitted EPDM roof can last for decades. The material resists sunlight, frost and temperature changes well. How long yours lasts depends on the quality of the deck underneath, the edge detailing and how much the roof is walked on, so careful fitting matters as much as the rubber itself.
Sometimes, but we usually recommend stripping the old covering first. That lets us check the deck for rot and moisture, which would otherwise be trapped under the new rubber. We'll look at your roof and tell you honestly which approach makes sense and why.
Yes. Small punctures or tears in EPDM can be repaired with patches of the same material, bonded and sealed over the damaged area. Repairs are usually quick, as long as the deck underneath hasn't been soaked. Call us if you spot damage, and we'll check it.
No. EPDM is a soft rubber surface, so rain makes very little sound on it, much less than on metal or plastic sheeting. Most people notice no difference from their old felt roof, and some find it quieter. It won't make your extension or garage any noisier.
